Self Defense Research

Not at all what I had in mind when I searched for ‘baton’, but almost as good:

My interest in learning how to effectively use an expandable baton has been renewed as of yesterday. Sadly, it would appear as though such a thing is illegal in missouri.  Which saddens me.  I refuse to not have some sort of defensive option on late night walks, so it looks like pepper spray may be the way to go.

In my crawls through google, I came across this book, which, despite looking like something that would die slowly on a library shelf for years, is, according to the reviews, actually very witty and informative.  That’s pretty awesome.  It comes in pints, so I’m gettin’ one.

Other than pepper spray, (and this may sound ridiculous, but bear with me…)  It occurs to me that inside of the armory in Olympus, we now have a nerf gun or two that, even without a modified dart, packs a bit of a wallop.  Combining that with modified dart, (say, a dart with a thumb tack for a head,) would be an interesting experiment.  I suppose that the downside is that if I’m wrong, and it doesn’t hurt someone sufficently, I’ve just pissed off somebody who was already trying to hurt me.

I thought that I had heard or read somewhere that it is legal to carry a knife, provided that said knife is shorter than x amount of lengths.  Anyone know for sure?

Going off topic, (having run out of topic to be on,)  I really want to see a Kindle in action now.  one of the problems that I have with reading for a long time on computers is that my eyes do get sore, just staring at a white screen for hours.  Supposedley, Kindle screens are made of magic, and don’t result in such soreness.

Also, while googling things related to self defense, I came across a page on Reddit, in which someone was asking about what the best weapon to hunt a polar bear was. The first response was “The kind of gun that doesn’t go anywhere near polar bears.”  Good answer.
